Privacy Policy for Free Ledger AI

 Last Updated: 03/26/2026

Kashif Paul ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Free Ledger AI mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our App and the choices you have associated with that data.

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Because Free Ledger AI is designed with a "Privacy-First, Zero-Server" architecture, we collect as little data as possible. The data we do interact with falls into the following categories:

  • Google Account Information: When you sign in using "Continue with Google," we receive basic profile information (such as your Name and Email Address) to authenticate your account via Firebase Authentication.

  • Device Permissions (Camera): We require access to your device's camera strictly to allow you to scan business receipts.

  • Financial Data & Receipts (Local & Google Drive): Your financial transactions, custom categories, and receipt images are NOT stored on our servers. This data is processed locally on your device and synced directly to your personal Google Drive for backup purposes. We do not have access to view, read, or share your financial data.

  • We take the security of your account and data seriously. Since our app does not store any data on servers, all your data is kept safe in your personal Google Drive account. If you wish to delete your account and data, please open your Google Drive account and manually delete the 'Free Ledger AI Receipts' folder. Our app does not interfere with this process, and we do not store your data.

  • Usage and Analytics Data: We use Google Analytics for Firebase to collect diagnostic data (e.g., app crashes, device type, operating system) to improve the App's stability.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for various purposes:

  • To provide and maintain the App.

  • To authenticate your identity via Google Sign-In.

  • To process receipt images using Google's Gemini AI API to extract text and categorize expenses (this data is processed in real-time and not used by us to train external AI models).

  • To provide customer support.

  • To monitor the usage of the App and detect technical issues.

  • To serve advertisements via Google AdMob.

3. Third-Party Services

We employ third-party companies and APIs to facilitate our App. These third parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose:

  • Google Play In-App Payments: Used to process $1 PDF unlocks and Pro Subscriptions. We do not collect or store your credit card details. That information is provided directly to Google Play, whose use of your personal information is governed by their Privacy Policy.

  • Google AdMob: Used to serve display and video ads. AdMob may use device advertising identifiers (like the Android Advertising ID) to serve personalized ads based on your interests.

  • Google Drive API: Used to create a hidden folder in your personal Drive to securely store your receipt images and JSON database backups.

  • Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics: Used to track app performance.

4. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Our App does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information.

5. California Privacy Rights (CCPA, CPRA, and CalOPPA)

If you are a California resident, you have specific rights regarding your personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA):

  • Right to Know & Access: You have the right to request what personal information we collect, use, and disclose.

  • Right to Delete: You have the right to request the deletion of your personal information. Because your financial data is stored on your device and your personal Google Drive, you can delete this data at any time by uninstalling the app and deleting the "Free Ledger AI Receipts" folder in your Google Drive. To delete your authentication account, contact us.

  • Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: We do not sell your personal data for money. However, the use of Google AdMob to serve personalized ads may constitute "sharing" under the CPRA. You can opt-out of personalized advertising by adjusting your Android device settings (Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization).

  • Do Not Track Signals: We do not track users across third-party websites and therefore do not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals.

6. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have certain data protection rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Kashif Paul is the Data Controller of your Personal Data.
Your rights include:

  • The right to access, update, or delete the information we have on you.

  • The right of rectification: You have the right to have your information rectified if it is inaccurate.

  • The right to object: You have the right to object to our processing of your Personal Data.

  • The right of restriction: You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal information.

  • The right to data portability: You can export your financial data directly within the App via the CSV Export feature.

  • The right to withdraw consent: You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time where we relied on your consent to process your personal information.

If you wish to exercise any of these rights, please contact us.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
